The'27th Seoul Music Awards' was held at the Gocheok Sky Dome, 40% digital downloads and album sales, and 30% judge scores. (Popularity awards are decided 100% by a popularity poll.)

The Seoul Music Awards has announced official details for its 27th ceremony. The 27th Seoul Music Awards will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Gocheok Sky Dome. It is set to begin at 730 KST, and run for approximately three and a half hours. The awards that will be given out this year include Daesang Grand Prize, Best Album Award, Best Digital Song Award, Bonsang Main Prizes, New Artist Award, Ballad Award, OST Award, R&B and Hip Hop Award, Trot Award, Ballad Award, Popularity Award, Korean Wave Award, Performance & Culture Award, Discovery Award, Dance Performance Award, and Fandom School Award. Out of these awards, fans will directly vote for four categories Bonsang, New Artist Award, Popularity Award, and Korean Wave Award. Bonsang and the New Artist Award will be decided by 30 percent judges’ vote, 40 percent chart and sales performance, and 30 percent fan votes. The Popularity Award and Korean Wave Award is 100 percent decided by fan votes. Fandom School is also a fan-voted award, but is based on results from a separate mobile app of the same name. Voting will become open to the public on Monday, December 11 at 12 KST and will close on Monday, January 22 at midnight KST. Fans worldwide will be able to vote through the mobile app, reportedly up to 10 times a day per category. Realtime results will be shown both on the Seoul Music Awards website and on the mobile app. While there are currently artists visible in each of votable categories on Seoul Music Awards’ official website, they have clarified that this is not necessarily the list of nominees as that has not yet been finalized. The “Hwarang” bromance lives on! At the 27th Seoul Music Awards held at Gocheok Sky Dome on January 25, Park Hyung Sik and Park Eun Bin appeared on stage as award presenters. Before announcing the winner of one of the Bonsang awards, the two actors engaged in a short conversation about how there were a lot of male groups active in the past year. Park Eun Bin then asked Park Hyung Sik if there was anyone he was particularly fond of out of the many singers sitting before him. Park Hyung Sik smiled and answered, “There was someone who was named as the No. 1 most handsome face in the world,” and named BTS member V. The two starred in the drama “Hwarang” together in 2017 and have shared photos of them hanging out together on social media. V then proudly stood up from his seat and made a V sign happily at Park Hyung Sik, making the other BTS members laugh while his fans cheered. Park Hyung Sik added, “I think everyone sitting here is beautiful and shining.” BTS won the Grand Prize and a Bonsang at the awards ceremony.
